Freedom of Information

The Victorian Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) gives persons the right to access documents of an agency, subject to some specified exemptions. The VRQA is subject to the provisions of this Act. The VRQA FOI Part II Statement provides further information in relation to this.

 The FOI Act gives individuals:

  • the right to access documents about their personal affairs and the activities of government agencies
  • the right to request that incorrect or misleading information held by an agency about you be amended or removed.

The FOI Act specifies that some documents may be exempt from release to protect public interests and the private or business affairs of people about whom the government, including the VRQA, holds information.
