Freedom of Information (FOI)

The Victorian Freedom of Information Act 1982 gives persons the right to access documents of an agency, subject to some specified exemptions. The VRQA is subject to the provisions of this Act.

How to make an FOI request

All requests for access to documents under the FOI Act must be made in writing to:

Requests should be accompanied by the prescribed application fee of $24.40. Please note that from 1 July 2012 the application fee for a request for access to documents under s 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) (“FOI Act”) will be $25.10.

Payment may be made by cheque or money order, made payable to the VRQA, or through electronic means subject to prior arrangement.
