Accreditation alternatives

Under the AQTF 2007 Standards, accredited courses must not duplicate, by titles or coverage, AQF qualifications and outcomes of endorsed Training Packages.

There are, however, a range of alternatives to accreditation that training organisations can choose.

If you are seeking to accredit
a course that trains participants to perform the same job outcome, skills or tasks as specified in a Training Package qualification.

consider applying to
deliver the existing Training Package qualification by having it added to the scope of registration.

If you are seeking to accredit
a short course that trains participants to perform the same skills or tasks described by one or more Training Package units of competency.

consider applying to
deliver the existing Training Package units of competency by having them added to the scope of registration.

If you are seeking to accredit
a course that is a subset of a Training Package qualification for example: a course (e.g. a short course) comprising a number of units from a single Training Package.

consider
having the individual Training Package units of competency added to the scope of registration. The RTO would then issue a Statement of Attainment for each unit sucessfully completed.

If you are seeking to accredit
a course incorporating new units of competency (written by the course developer), where the units train participants to perform the same tasks or skills described in existing Training Package units.

consider using
Training Package units of competency in the course instead. Units may also be contextualised so that they better meet a particular industry's need.

* Please note: Extensions to scope of registration are subject to the approval of the VRQA.
