Accreditation standards
The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) is the set of nationally agreed quality assurance arrangements for training and assessment services delivered by training organisations.
The AQTF 2007 also includes standards for the accreditation of courses. These are
- Standards for State and Territory Course Accrediting Bodies
- Standards for Accredited Courses
You may download the AQTF 2007 Standards from AQTF 2007.

Accreditation is the process used to formally recognised national qualifications not covered by nationally endorsed training packages.
Accredited courses bridge the gaps in training packages and address skill requirements of industry, enterprises and the community. They also have the capacity to address changes in skill needs, and the needs of emerging and converging industries and industry sectors, in a responsive manner.
Accreditation confirms that the course
- meets industry, enterprise or community needs
- provides appropriate competency outcomes and a satisfactory basis for assessment
- meets national quality assurance requirements
- is aligned to the appropriate level of the Australian Qualifications Framework where it leads to a qualification.
The VRQA is the statutory body with the authority to accredit courses for the senior secondary, VET, and higher education (non self accrediting) sectors in Victoria.
