Who investigates my type of school or college?
The VRQA can only investigate schools and training organisations (eg a school or college) registered in Victoria.
You can check whether a school or training organisation is registered with the VRQA by checking our State Register.
Government schools
Although the VRQA registers government schools, it does not investigate complaints against government schools.
For information about making a complaint against a government school, see: Parent Complaints – Schools.
Catholic schools
Although the VRQA registers Catholic schools, it does not investigate complaints against Catholic schools. Complaints should instead be made to the relevant regional office.
For more information about how to contact the relevant regional office, see: Other complaints agencies
Independent schools
The VRQA can investigate complaints against independent schools registered in Victoria.
Registered training organisations
The VRQA can investigate a complaint against a registered training organisation if it is registered with the VRQA. To find out if an organisation is registered with the VRQA, search for it on the State Register.
If you do not find the organisation you are looking for on the State Register, search on Training.gov.au to find out who the organisation is registered with so that you may lodge your complaint to the correct authority.
The next step
If your school or training organisation is registered with the VRQA, is not a government or Catholic school and can be found on the State Register the next step is to check whether your type of complaint can be investigated by the VRQA, or should instead be sent to another agency. See: Can the VRQA investigate my type of complaint?
