Strengthened protections for apprentices and trainees

Changes to the employer approval process to help protect apprentices and trainees are now in effect in Victoria.

New employers seeking to register a training contract at an Australian Apprenticeship Centre are now asked to make declarations about their background, including in relation to relevant indictable offences and any findings or convictions in relation to workplace safety, pay and conditions.

The changes strengthen protections for apprentices and trainees without increasing regulatory burden for employers.
