Offering new VET qualifications

Registered training organisations (RTOs) wanting to deliver a new qualification in 2017 should apply to amend their scope of registration as soon as possible.

An RTO cannot advertise that it delivers a qualification until the VRQA has approved it to the scope of registration. Timelines and evidence requirements for this process vary, so it is best to apply now.

If you are applying to add a unit or qualification that is replacing a superseded item, you will need to determine if the item is equivalent. This information can be found on www.training.gov.au.

Applications for equivalent units or qualifications do not require evidence of readiness or payment if they are submitted within the transition period. RTOs with standing applications for amendments to training packages do not need to apply to replace superseded scope items.

Applications for non-equivalent scope items have an application fee and will require you to provide evidence of readiness.

If you have any questions regarding our application processes please contact us at qar@edumail.vic.gov.au. .
