A message from the Director

A number of important changes have recently been announced by the Minister for Higher Education and Skills that will reduce fees and administration for VRQA-registered vocational education and training (VET) providers.

The changes include a freeze on VRQA VET fees for 2015 at 2014 levels and new arrangements to make it easier for eligible RTOs to keep their scope of registration up-to-date.

In addition to these important changes, State and Territory ministers endorsed new national standards for RTOs and VET regulators at the COAG Industry and Skills Council meeting on 26 September 2014. Legislative changes are required prior to the VRQA implementing these standards. The VRQA will continue to update our stakeholders about timelines for the implementation of new national standards for RTOs and VET regulators in Victoria.

Further details are available in this edition of e-news.

RTOs can now access the Unique Student Identifier (USI) system at the www.usi.gov.au website developed by the Commonwealth Department of Industry, who are responsible for the USI system. RTOs can access further information and establish access by visiting www.usi.gov.au.

The VRQA values feedback about the information and resources it provides, as well as suggestions for future e-news articles. Feedback may be directed to vrqa@edumail.vic.gov.au.
