A message from the Director

I am delighted to report the impressive number of schools that have completed the child safe standards online self-assessment and submitted their statutory declarations.

All but nine independent schools and 455 of the 493 Catholic schools have completed the process. Almost 50 per cent of government school principals have already completed the online process and are submitting their statutory declarations*. Government schools have until 28 September 2016 to complete the online self-assessment and submit their statutory declarations unless an extension is sought prior.

I wish to acknowledge the support of the Department of Education and Training, the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria, Independent Schools Victoria and other agencies in implementing this important process, and thank all the school principals and school leaders who are working with the VRQA in committing to zero tolerance for child abuse.

Lynn Glover
