A message from the Director

This is a special edition to alert you to some changes to the regulation of apprenticeships and traineeships in Victoria.

The regulatory responsibility for apprenticeships and traineeships transferred to the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) from the Victorian Skills Commission (VSC) on 1 October 2012.

The VRQA Board approved the market testing of an alternative model for the provision of apprenticeship and traineeship regulatory field services throughout Victoria.

This occurred through a public tender process which has now been finalised and I am pleased to advise thacontract signingt Busy Inc, trading as Busy at Work, has entered into a contract with the VRQA for the provision of apprenticeship and traineeship regulatory field services to commence on 2 September 2013.

Busy at Work is now establishing offices across Victoria. They will be ensuring that their services are targeted to those apprentices and trainees most in need.

I look forward to working with Busy at Work to ensure Victorian apprentices and trainees are receiving appropriate, relevant, and high quality vocational and workplace based training.

The VRQA website will be updated with further details as they emerge.

Lynn Glover
