International Education

 The VRQA approves education providers for inclusion on CRICOS – the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students, administered by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

The VRQA also approves provider to be included on AUSlist – a register of education providers delivering Australian Qualifications overseas, and registers and quality assures International Student Exchange Organisations.

The VRQA International Unit coordinates the registration and quality assurance arrangements for education providers to deliver courses to international students in Victoria.  These arrangements include:

  • adding new sites
  • applying for an increase in maximum student enrolment capacity
  • notification of changes to provider ownership, management or operations
  • other changes to CRICOS registration
  • adding new courses to CRICOS scope of registration
  • deleting courses from CRICOS scope of registration

 The Guidelines on homestay accommodation for overseas students thirteen years or under (PDF - 99Kb) was approved by the VRQA Board and became effective from 1 July 2009, under the Authority’s power pursuant to section 4.5.1 (3) of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006.
