Amending Scope of Registration

Process and requirements to amend your scope of registration

There are two ways Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) may amend their scope of registration. RTOs may amend their scope by either:

  1. submitting a standing application for amendments to training packages (Form E)
  2. amending the scope of registration using Form B.

Standing application for amendments to training packages (Form E)

A standing application authorises the VRQA to amend an RTO’s scope of registration when an amendment to a training package product already on the RTO’s scope of registration occurs and has been determined by the relevant Industry Skills Council to be equivalent to the training package product it is superseding. Eligibility requirements apply in relation to standing applications for amendments to training packages. No fees apply in relation to amendments to scope made under a standing application.

For more information, see Standing application for amendments to training packages (Form E).

Standing applications do not apply to VRQA accredited courses. Please refer to Transition advice.

Amending the scope of registration using Form B

Form B can be used to amend an RTO’s scope of registration in three ways:

  1. to add new scope items or non-equivalent training package products or accredited courses to scope
  2. to add equivalent training package products without a standing application
  3. to remove items from scope.

For more information, see: Form B - Amending the scope of registration.

Responsibility

In accordance with Condition 9 of the AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Continuing Registration (pdf - 390.33kb), RTOs are responsible for managing their scope of registration. This includes monitoring the status of training package products on their scope of registration.

VRQA transition period for equivalent training package products will be 12 months from the ‘Release date’ of the training package as published on Training.gov.au.

Expiry dates for VRQA accredited courses and qualifications can be found on the VRQA State Register and Training.gov.au. Training.gov.au  allows RTOs to subscribe to receive automatic email updates when a new or revised training package or purchasing guide (respectively) is available.

The VRQA recommends that all RTOs subscribe to this service.
