Schools
All schools in Victoria must be registered by the VRQA.
Minimum Standards for Registration
Schools in Victoria are required to meet minimum standards for registration as described in the Education and Training Reform Regulations 2007. These standards have been developed for schools offering Years Prep to 10, and for schools offering senior secondary qualifications e.g. VCE, VCAL and IB Diploma.
Two guides have been developed to provide advice regarding the minimum standards and other requirements for school registration. One is designed to assist existing registered schools and one for individuals or organisations seeking to register a new school.
Applying for Registration
Applicants seeking to register a new school, and existing schools seeking to amend registration, (e.g adding a campus, adding a year level, or amalgamating) can find out about the process by clicking on the following links:

VRQA/Council of International Schools - Standards Mapping Project
In 2008, the VRQA commissioned a mapping project (PDF - 148Kb) to identify the gaps and overlap between the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) minimum standards and other requirements for school registration and the Council of International Schools (CIS) standards for internal and external evaluation.
The report will be a valuable reference document for schools accredited by the CIS when seeking to amend their registration and for schools considering or currently undertaking the CIS accreditation process.
Schools Start Bonus (SSB) and Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
Registered government and non government schools are required to carry out administrative tasks in relation to the payment of allowances and bonuses to the families of students. These payments are intended to help eligible families with the cost of education. More details....
School Self-Assessment Tool
The school self-assessment tool (Word - 603Kb) can be used by a school to help assess its level of compliance with the minimum standards and other requirements for school registration.
