Accrediting Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses
In the VET system, accreditation refers to the formal recognition of a course by a state or territory course accrediting body. VRQA is the recognition authority which accredits vocational education and training courses in Victoria. Accreditation takes place in accordance with the AQTF 2007 Standards for State and Territory Course Accrediting Bodies.
An accredited course can lead to a Statement of Attainment or a qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Only registered training organisations (RTOs) are entitled to issue qualifications for accredited vocational courses.
Accreditation confirms that the course:
- meets industry, enterprise or community needs
- provides appropriate competency outcomes and a satisfactory basis for assessment
- meets national quality assurance requirements
- is aligned to the appropriate level of the Australian Qualifications Framework where it leads to a qualification.
You can search for accredited courses on the State register.
