The Commonwealth Government has announced that the transition date for TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment has been extended to
1 July 2019.
Trainers and assessors who currently hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment need to obtain the new core units of competency by 1 July 2019.
For VRQA registered training organisations (RTOs) the extended implementation date from 1 April to 1 July means that their trainers and assessors can continue to train for a further three months while transitioning to the updated qualification.
We are focussed on ensuring that all trainers and assessors have the skills, knowledge and experience to implement training packages and deliver quality training and assessment.
Those who hold a diploma or higher level qualification in adult education may not need to undertake any further gap training to meet the requirements.
It is RTOs responsibility to confirm that their trainers and assessors have proficiency and relevant VET skills. This can be developed in a document which maps a diploma or higher qualification in adult education against the TAE40116, and shows the relevant VET competence.
Trainers and assessors who have not successfully completed the new credential requirements by 1 July 2019 may continue to train students under supervision as outlined in the VRQA Guidelines for VET Providers.
We are in the process of updating the VRQA Guidelines for VET Providers to reflect the new transition date.
