Memorandum of understanding with Victorian Skills Commissioner

Victorian Skills Commissioner Neil Coulson and VRQA Chief Executive Officer (Director) Lynn GloverOn Friday 24 May 2019, VRQA Chief Executive Officer (Director) Lynn Glover signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Victorian Skills Commissioner (VSC) Neil Coulson.

The Victorian Skills Commissioner provides advice to the Minister for Training and Skills on the training system’s performance. This includes advising of opportunities to promote training pathways and address the skills needs of Victoria’s regions.

The MOU outlines our agreement to provide mutual assistance:

  • to allow both organisations to exercise our powers and functions in relation to apprentices and trainees
  • when consulting industry stakeholders about qualifications to be available as apprenticeships or traineeships
  • when determining appropriate trade titles and rules for issuing trade papers
  • on any new initiatives from the VSC that are designed to drive new apprenticeship and traineeship uptake by employers.

This MOU will improve our ability to provide effective regulation of apprenticeships and traineeships, ensuring that students gain the skills they need for work.
