If your business is experiencing a downturn in work, you can apply to suspend a training contract for 6 months.
You can apply to suspend a contract for up to 12 months for:
- illness or injury (whether or not it is work-related)
- travel overseas
- maternity leave.
Step 1
Discuss the suspension with your apprentice or trainee and make sure you both agree to it.

Work with your apprentice or trainee to fill in an application form:

Submit the completed form to your Apprenticeship Network provider.
