Preliminary research

What you need to know

There are over 60 endorsed training packages. In total, these contain over 1400 qualifications, 17,000 units of competency and 1300 skill sets.

Before developing a course for accreditation, you should:

  • establish if there is a need for the course
  • consult with relevant stakeholders
  • check that the course will not duplicate the title or outcomes of an existing training package qualification, unit of competency, or accredited Crown copyright course.

Courses cannot be accredited if their outcomes can be achieved through existing training package qualifications.

Research tips

Consult with relevant skills service organisations (SSOs), industry, enterprise, education or community groups, employee organisations, professional associations, regulatory or licensing bodies, and curriculum maintenance managers (CMMs) about your proposed course.
