Transfer registration to ASQA

What you need to know

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) is the national regulator for Australia's vocational education and training sector.

You must transfer your organisation's registration from the VRQA to ASQA if you intend to:

  • provide VET courses to international students
  • operate in states and territories other than Victoria or Victoria and Western Australia, including offering online courses interstate.

Transferring your registration

Please provide a statutory declaration stating why your organisation is transferring its registration. The chief executive officer, director or an appropriate delegate must sign the statutory declaration.

Send the signed copy to:

We process transfers on the first Wednesday of each month.

Before submitting the statutory declaration, make sure you have resolved any non-compliance issues, paid any outstanding fees, and have no other applications being assessed.

Compliance for ASQA-registered providers

Once your organisation's registration is transferred, it must comply with ASQA's standards:

We have prepared a document showing how ASQA's standards align with Victoria's regulatory framework; the Australian Quality Training Framework and VRQA Guidelines for VET Providers:

The VRQA and ASQA guidelines have been agreed so there is no disadvantage to VRQA-registered RTOs transferring registration.
